There’s no place like home for the holidays—and that’s especially true if you’re looking to sell a home right now!
People often think of listing a home sometime during April, May or June. The idea is that listing in the spring during prime selling season will get you the highest price - but according to a study, this is not actually true!Redfin studied more than one million homes between 2011 and 2013 and in 19 major housing markets, they found:
"Houses listed from December 21 through March 21 had a 9% greater chance of selling within 180 days closer to asking price amount vs. homes out on the market from March 22 through June 21"
The reason for this unlikely scenario? Home prices actually peak in late winter/early spring when the least number of properties are on the market, but people are already out looking.

Before you list on the MLS, there are some things you should do. They aren't mandatory, of course, but you will stand out in the market over other homeowners who haven't prepared. It will put you in a better position to sell for more money, faster!
Preparations for home sellers
I won't put this lightly - it does take some work. But you are planning on moving, right? Just think of this as head start on packing up for your move! Sound better? Let's start on the checklist!
1. Curb appeal. You only have one chance for a great first impression. Walk the perimeter of your home and try to see it through a buyers eyes. Can you make small improvements that would enhance your homes curb appeal? Adding mulch to flower beds, pulling weeds, repainting the front door?
